How to Do New Orleans like a Lady Boss

How to Do New Orleans like a Lady Boss

Last January, my girl Dana and I traveled to New Orleans for a girl’s trip. We were visiting our friend Margaret who was there on a stop with The Lion King tour. We have some other acquaintances on the tour so often there was a group of us touring the city.

But it wasn’t until the last night that it hit me. We were all sitting around a table late in the night and I realized all 6 of us were some badass lady bosses (and also millennials!).

We were all theater professionals ranging from stage managers to company managers to merchandise managers. Our jobs are all different but we all have one thing in common – we’re bosses. And we have lots of things to say – topics ranged from women in the workforce to marriage, relationships and babies. It was incredible.

So my point is that New Orleans doesn’t have to be all Bourbon Street. Here’s my guide to how a lady boss does New Orleans. Read More

7 Awesome Yoga Workouts You Can Do in a Hotel Room

When I was on tour with Newsies, I LOVED watching YouTube videos for yoga workouts I could do in my hotel room. Now that I’m off tour, it’s still a habit a practice, but now it’s my living room.

Before we get to the videos, here’s some of my favorite traveling yoga essentials:

  1. Manduka eKO SuperLite Travl Yoga and Pilates Mat – this mat folds very easily so it takes up less room than a mat you have to roll
  2. Yoga Strap – I love to travel a yoga strap to help with poses

Travel Yoga Revitalizing Flow from Yoga with Adriene

Yoga with Adriene is my go to for yoga videos. I’ve completed her 30 Day Challenge (totally recommended) and I love her unique videos and fun yoga practices. Truth be told, most of her workouts can be done in a small space but this one is travel focused.

Yoga for Travel – Jet Lag Yoga to Stretch Your Entire Body from Yoga with Kassandra

I LOVE that this video is focused on jet lag. I haven’t tested it yet but definitely will use this video the next time I fly to Australia.

35 5-ingredient Recipes You Can Make in an AirBnb

35 5-ingredient Recipes You Can Make in an AirBnb

If you haven’t read any of my Hotel Cooking 101 posts, I am a HUGE fan of cooking while traveling. Don’t get me wrong, I love eating out and trying foods in new places, but even just one meal in (for me, it’s always breakfast) can save you a lot of money. AirBnbs are easiest since you’ll get a kitchen, but I’ve also included 5-ingredient recipes you can make using a stove or hot plate (like you’ll find in a Residence Inn-type place) or using a grill, which can sometimes we found near an outdoor pool.

If you’re interested in traveling your own cooking appliance, I LOVE the Cuisinart Oven Central or George Foreman Grill.

What you need for all 5-ingredient recipes: oil/ghee, salt & pepper. Read More
